Echoes of Unsaid Words
Hook
“We often speak louder in silence than in conversation.”
Research
University of Chicago — Nicholas Epley (2014)
The study found that people consistently underestimate how much others appreciate their acts of reaching out through conversation, be it in person or via text.

I often find myself hesitating to text an old friend. I convince myself they're too busy or might not want to hear from me anymore. Yet, every time I've pushed past this discomfort, their warm responses remind me how wrong my assumptions are.
On the other hand, I recall moments when a simple message from someone has completely lifted my spirits. Their simple 'thinking of you' somehow punctured the void of my solitary thoughts.
It's a strange paradox — wanting connection yet fearing rejection. But maybe the real fear is vulnerability, and the irony is that it is this very vulnerability that builds the strongest bridges.
The Insight
The greatest conversations often start with the courage to break the silence.
