I like to think of myself as a person of willpower, someone who makes conscious choices. But recently, I noticed how often I reach for snacks when I'm watching TV, almost as if my body is on autopilot.
It makes me wonder how many other 'automatic' actions are dictated by my environment, like the path I take to work or the music I listen to at the gym. These choices feel personal, but they're shaped by what's around me.
Recognizing this is powerful. It means I can change my environment to align better with the life I want to lead, starting with hiding those snacks during my Netflix binges.
The Insight
We dance to the tune of our environment long before we hear the music.
