I’ve read countless articles on emotional intelligence, nodding along to the wisdom of self-awareness and empathy. It’s all so deceptively simple on paper. Yet, when life throws its inevitable curveballs, my mind often reverts to autopilot, defaulting to old habits and reactions.
Sometimes, I catch myself mid-argument or during a misunderstanding, realizing my emotional literacy is more theoretical than practical. It's frustrating to see how difficult it is to bridge the gap between understanding emotional principles and embodying them in real time.
The truth is, this gap between knowing and doing can feel like an impossibly wide chasm. The more I learn, the more I realize that practice, not just knowledge, is key to growth. Every day is a new opportunity to try again, to start building that elusive bridge.
