“We often know what to do but still fail to do it.”
Research
University of Chicago — Fishbach et al. (2009)
The study highlights the phenomenon called 'intention-action gap,' where people who set clear intentions often fail to act on them, revealing the disconnect between knowledge and behavior.

Every January, I promise myself that this is the year I'll finally get fit, but my gym shoes gather dust by February. I set intentions with the best of hopes, yet my actions tell a different story.
It’s the same with the unread books stacked neatly on my nightstand, the ones that hold worlds I long to explore but never seem to open. I know the thrill of a good book, the wisdom it can impart, but still, I delay.
It's frustrating to see this pattern in myself, this gap between what I know I want and what I actually do. Bridging this chasm is a constant battle, but perhaps acknowledging it is the first step toward change.
The Insight
Human nature often traps us in the space between knowing and doing, where intention doesn't always lead to action.
