A hush settled over the small, sleepy town as the clock struck midnight. The flickering streetlights cast long shadows on the cobblestone streets, and the silence was broken only by the distant hoot of an owl. Inside the town's sole diner, the neon sign buzzed faintly, illuminating the name, “Midnight Delight.” It was the venue for a night shift like no other.
Emma, the lone waitress, scribbled in her notepad as she imagined a bustling crowd filling the diner. In reality, the booths were empty, and the counter gleamed under the fluorescent lights without a single coffee cup in sight.
