I've always thought resilience was simply about bouncing back—an elastic quality that some people just have. But when life's stresses mount, bouncing back can feel more like trudging through pudding and less like springing up from a trampoline.
The science tells us chronic stress can literally age us at the cellular level, but I still find myself rationalizing endless to-do lists and impossible deadlines. "Just one more thing," I say, as if I can somehow outwit biology with sheer willpower.
Real resilience, perhaps, is not about enduring stress but understanding when to step back. It's about recognizing the false bravado of constantly powering through and learning the delicate art of balancing effort with ease.
