It's a bizarre sensation to feel more logical in a language that isn't my own. There's a certain detachment, a kind of emotional distance that seems to free me from the biases and impulsive reactions that often cloud my judgment in my native tongue.
I remember negotiating with a friend over text in French, a language we both barely mastered. The conversation felt different—distant, almost clinical, yet strangely calm and efficient. We reached a conclusion without the emotional peaks and valleys we'd usually experience.
It's as if speaking in a less familiar language provides an unexpected refuge, a space where I can step back and truly see the bigger picture. It’s a curious feeling, both liberating and unsettling at once.
The Insight
A foreign tongue can offer a clearer lens through which to view our inner truths.
