Reflection

I wonder how much of my speech is truly my own. Am I just a mouthpiece for the spaces I inhabit? This thought came to me one day when I found myself using words I never liked, mimicking the cadence of new colleagues, adopting jargon like attire.

It was unsettling—this realization that I am so malleable. Growing up, I always thought my voice was distinctly mine, yet here I was, echoing the rhythm and vocabulary of people around me. I felt like a chameleon, constantly adapting, yet never quite sure of my true colors.

But perhaps this fluidity isn't all bad. Maybe it's a testament to human adaptability and connection. We subconsciously absorb the language around us because we yearn to belong, to feel understood. And in doing so, we often bridge gaps we didn't even know existed.

The Insight

Our words often carry the subtle accents of our environment, reminding us that connection is an unspoken dialogue.
